Kitchener man arrested for vehicle theft

The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with its Criminal Investigation Unit was called to investigate a suspicious male in an orange jump suit walking on Highway 124 around 9 p.m. on Friday night.  

 

Police arrived and found the male close to John Street and after a short investigation discovered the male had been released from a correctional facility the day before and had stolen two vehicles to travel north.  

 

The accused ran out of gas and made it to Sundridge when police arrested him.

 

The accused, Eugene Gehiere, 32 of Kitchener Ontario was charged with the following offences;

 

• Possession of property obtained by a crime over $5000 (2 counts), contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

• Theft of motor vehicle (2 counts), contrary to section 333.1 of the Criminal Code

• Driving while disqualified – court order, contrary to section 259(4) of the Criminal Code

• Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

 

The accused male was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Monday, December 21, 2015 in Parry Sound, Ontario
