King St chaos leads to assault with weapon charges

Police investigated an incident at a King St. East neighbourhood Tuesday morning.

 Three people face some serious charges after an early morning brawl on King St. Tuesday morning.

At 7:49 am, police were called to the neighbourhood regarding a disturbance between two groups of people.   

"Upon arrival to the chaotic scene, police located some individuals and a heavily damaged vehicle," said Constable Merv Shantz in a news release. "As a result of the investigation, several arrests were made and charges were laid."

Police say just before 7:30 a.m., three people arrived and a fight broke out between the residents of the home and the three arrivals. The participants were known to each other.

Residential home security video of the area was obtained by police, and an investigation began. As a result, three people were arrested and charged.

Criminal Code Charges laid by police include:

  • 3 charges of assault with a weapon
  • 2 charges of Mischief
  • 1 charge of Administer a Noxious Thing
  • 1 charge of Assault

North Bay police have not released the names of those arrested.

Police remained on the scene the rest of the day, as a search warrant was obtained. The house was searched and some items were recovered.  A drone assisted in the investigation, and the OPP Canine Unit also responded.

Police earlier had said it was an isolated incident and that there were no serious injuries, however blood was seen on the sidewalk according to a witness 

 Police said there was no danger to the public.

Members of the Criminal Investigations Unit are continuing with this investigation.

All three accused were released on Undertakings with conditions and will appear in court at a later date.
