The Near North Occasional Teacher Local, Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario and the Near North District School Board reached a tentative agreement late yesterday afternoon.

The Near North Occasional Teacher Local, Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario and the Near North District School Board reached a tentative agreement at approximately 5:15 this afternoon.

The strike by elementary occasional teachers in the Near North District School Board is over. Elementary occasional teachers in the Near North District School Board will return to work tomorrow, May 30, 2006 as usual.

Both sides will seek to ratify the agreement in the next few days.

Today, the Near North District School Board and the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario Near North Occasional Teachers’ Bargaining Unit have reached a tentative agreement. As a result, all elementary schools will re-open tomorrow, Tuesday, May 30, 2006. The Near North District School Board will hold a special Board meeting tonight, Monday, May 29, 2006 to consider ratification of the agreement.

The Board is pleased to see an end to the current labour dispute. Most important, the Board is pleased to have all students returning to the classroom tomorrow.

All buses will be operating on their regular schedule.
