Keely Lacarte is in hospital in hospital getting treatment for Ewing Sarcoma.

A fundraising event to support a young New Liskeard girl with cancer was a well attended event.

"We raised 6000 with 300 people," said organizer Sam Harvey in an email to BayToday.

"It was a huge success."

Sam Harvey, was one of more than 20 local musicians who participated in Keely's Charity Jam which took place from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Elks Club in North Bay on Sunday, November 27.

The benefit is to help the family of Keely Lacarte, a 10-year-old New Liskeard girl who has cancer.

The Elks Lodge hosted the event by subsidizing the cost and a number of silent auction items were donated as well. A spaghetti dinner was provided by Burgerworld (Algonquin Avenue).

Organizer Sam Harvey wanted to help out but did not put a target fundraising goal.

"There is no stress planning this," he said prior to the event.

"The help that we get, we get. The amount of bands that are coming out was our goal."

The funds will help the family offset travel costs as Keely has been in hospital getting treatment in Ottawa since May of 2022.
