Representatives from the General Chairperson’s Association (GCA) which represents all unionized employees at Ontario Northland (ONTC) will be heading to Sudbury on Friday October 5, 2012 to attend a rally outside the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines offices 159 Cedar Street at 10:30 a.m. to demand for a New Deal for Ontario Northland and that passenger rail service be restored.

“Anyone wishing to attend is welcome to join us in Sudbury. The purpose of the rally is to continue our call for the return of passenger train service and secondly to demand that the McGuinty Liberals finally listen to Northerners demanding that stakeholders be allowed the opportunity to develop a new deal to keep all the services the ONTC provides in public hands.” said GCA spokesperson Brian Kelly.

“We have sent Northern Development Minister Rick Bartolucci a letter requesting a meeting with him to reinforce the North’s demand for a new deal. Hopefully he will find time in his busy schedule to hear what Northerners are really saying,” concluded Kelly.
