John Dixon Public Library to open Friday

On Friday, December 1, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., the Near North District School Board, Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord, the Town of Mattawa and representatives of the John Dixon Public Library will join together to celebrate the official grand opening of the John Dixon Public Library in Mattawa. The Town of Mattawa has received a $75,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation toward the renovation a section of Ecole Secondaire F.J. McElligott Secondary School that will house the John Dixon Public Library.

Funds from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, in concert with the additional $10,500 through the Ministry of Culture’s Northern and rural library funding, will ensure the John Dixon Public Library continues to be a vital part of the community.

Dignitaries joining the Near North District School Board at the official opening will include representatives from Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord, the Town of Mattawa, the John Dixon Public Library Board, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Nipissing MPP, Monique Smith, Canadore College, Contact North and community partners.
The grand opening will take place at ES F.J. McElligott SS, 370 Pine Street, Mattawa in the John Dixon Public Library. A reception, hosted by the Town of Mattawa, will follow.
