The affable star is presently in the Gateway City filming a 10-episode police drama, Carter.

This past week O'Connell appeared at the wrestling event called the Rumble of the North at the Davedi Club. where Carter "King of the North" Mason was fighting Travis McCabe.

O'Connell was the special "guest referee", and though things started out normally when the main referee got taken out by a foot to the head, Jerry jumped into action.

“I love North Bay," O'Connell told BayToday last week. "This is my first time in Northern Ontario and it’s gorgeous. It’s really fun to come to North Bay right now and I have a feeling it’s right before the rest of the world finds out about it,” he said. “People are so nice, it’s just a magical town. It’s a city with a small town feel. Places like North Bay—the secret is about to get out and it’s so exciting we get to capture it on Carter.”
