NIPISSING UNIVERSITY – The student body at Nipissing University will soon be able to access a brilliant new resource to better help them understand, relate to, and affect the political climate and decision-making processes at Nipissing University, and engage in activities that promote student leadership, community participation and volunteerism.

The members of NipissingYOU – a members-based, non-profit, and completely transparent advocacy and research group for students at Nipissing University – will launch the website at a press conference on Monday, 1 October 2007.

Kyle Marsh, Chair of NipissingYOU, along with other members of NipissingYOU, will make a short presentation regarding the need for democratic, transparent access to information on campus, and the requirement to fulfill certain essential needs that the Nipissing University Student Union is not currently engaged in, such as dedicated research into academic growth on the campus.

During last year’s political turmoil, a dedicated group of students created the website for
NipissingYOU (www.nipissingyou.ca) as an archival service for news items regarding student union affairs. Within the first few months of operation, the site received over 60,000 hits and quickly became the established venue for students to learn more about what was going on at their campus.
