Is he crazy?

He's young, he's fit, he's a little crazy, he's cute and he is off to Argentina. Of course we can only be describing North Bay's latest celebutant Brian Guy who secured a spot on the wildly popular TV series Wipeout.
He's young, he's fit, he's a little crazy, he's cute and he is off to Argentina. Of course we can only be describing North Bay's latest celebutant Brian Guy who secured a spot on the wildly popular TV series Wipeout.

With more than 44,000 auditions received, the producers found something in Guy that stood out making him the only Northern Ontario resident to have what it takes to compete for the $50,000 top prize on Wipeout Canada.

“It still feels surreal making it on the show,” Guy tells BayToday. “I had to keep the secret for so long it almost took the fun out of it.”

“It was a long process getting on, first the application and the video, waiting was also the worst, just sitting waiting and wishing for the callback. Finally I got a call back from the judges for an interview in Toronto to meet the producers and co-hosts. After that again it was sitting around for another month and half to find out I made it on. And once I found out I was on August 24, I still wasn't even allowed to tell anyone.”

“This whole experience seems like its going to be a once in a lifetime thing, and I can handle it. Not only am I the only one from North Bay, but I got word that I was actually the only one from Northern Ontario.”

Guy, who sets off Wednesday October 27th for the set in Argentina, is now on a dedicated training regiment and thanks his good friends for supporting his effort and for keeping him focused during the arduous audition process.

“I'm looking just forward to the challenges of the competition to see how well I can do compared to the other competitors to see if I can come out on top.”

“I've been training hard with running under, over and through every obstacle I can find, and hitting the gym twice a day when I have the time.”

“Looking forward to this whole experience and I have to say it wouldn't have been possible without Diane and Reid Falconi at Beyond Wireless giving me the patience needed with this whole process.”

The show premiers on specialty channel TV-Tropolis in Spring 2011.
