Inmate caught running scam from jail cell

On the 7th of July 2008 the North Bay Police Service commenced an investigation into various purchases being made at North Bay jewellery stores by telephone.

The investigation showed that the caller was a resident of a correctional facility in Kingston, Ontario.

These frauds were facilitated with an accomplice and the use of a 3 way calling feature.

On the 12th of Sept. 08 Jody FAUCHER 40 years old of Ottawa was arrested by North Bay Police Service officers who attended the correctional facility in Kingston.

At that time he was charged with:

17 counts of Fraud, 14 counts of Possession of Credit Card Data,

He was brought to the North Bay Jail in order to have his matters dealt with in the North Bay courts.

On the 13th of Aug. a search warrant was executed at the North Bay Jail against this same individual in relation to similar acts. At that time he was found to be in possession of credit card data.

On the 5th of Nov. this same male was charged with 7 counts of Possession of Credit Card Data and on the 16th of Nov. he plead guilty to 5 counts of Fraud, 11 counts of Possession of Credit Card Data and received a sentence of 2 & ½ years of incarceration.
