News Release

In its beginning, it was the National Secretaries Association, then it became Professional Secretaries International, and now we know it as the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP).

With Headquarters in Kansas City, the Association provides opportunities for personal and professional development, leadership training and international networking.

Locally, the North Bay Chapter has progressed from offering seminars and training to office professionals on weekends and evenings, to holding a full day of professional development, with high profile professional speakers, during Administrative Professionals week each April. Included in this day is the very popular Administrative Professionals’ and Executives Luncheon attended by the Mayor and hosted by EZ Rock personalities. The luncheon has been an annual event since 1989 and is co-sponsored by the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce.

A celebration will be held at the Best Western, North Bay, on Thursday, June 9, 2011 beginning at 5:30 p.m. All past presidents in attendance will be honoured, and Mary-Lynn Truchon, a charter member will speak about the role of the administrative professional in 1976. This will be followed by a panel discussion about the future of the profession. President, Lise Boucher, do a presentation on the history of the chapter in North Bay, and her plans for the future of the association.

During dinner, guests will enjoy a slide show from the successful national conference that was hosted by the chapter in 2009.

Administrative Professionals in the city and surrounding area are invited to attend this Anniversary dinner meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Lakeshore Room at the Best Western, Lakeshore. There is a $20 charge for dinner, and reservations must be made in advance by calling Marilyn Halsall at 472-2194.
