HWY 11 south bound lanes at Novar closed Updated

On Friday April 23rd at about 4:25 am Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police were contacted regarding a single tractor trailer motor vehicle collision on Highway number eleven north of Novar. The tractor trailer was southbound and lost control. The vehicle flipped onto its side with the tractor on the highway and the trailer in the west ditch. The trailer lost its load of liquid latex rubber in the west ditch. Also at the scene were the Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Transportation, Perry Township Fire Department and ambulance. The driver, Gurpreet Singh Kaintch 35 years of Brampton was charged with dangerous driving of the Criminal Code with his court date of June 1st 2010 in Sundridge Court.

Highway eleven was closed southbound for about six hours and at 10:30 am Highway #11 southbound was reopened to one lane southbound. During the shutdown Truck traffic was rerouted to Highway 124 and smaller vehicle traffic was routed to Highway 518 and 592.

This investigation is under the directing of Constable Ted Warman of the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police.

Hwy 11 is closed to traffic just north of Novar. Southbound traffic, with the exception of transport trucks, may detour on Hwy 592 at Emsdale. Transport trucks can detour on Hwy 124 at Sundridge to Hwy 69.

Just after 4:00 a.m. this morning (April 23, 2010), a tractor trailer left the roadway and rolled over spilling its load of liquid rubber. The liquid is contained and does not pose a public hazard. The lone driver was not injured in the crash.

Ontario Provincial Police, Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Transportation and Parry Township Fire Department are at the crash scene.

Media will be notified as soon as the highway is opened to traffic.

The OPP Investigation is continuing.

Almaguin Highlands OPP advise motorists that as of 5:35 am HWY 11 south bound lanes just north of Novar are closed due to a Transport Truck Rollover.

A detour is available -- Transport Truck must take HWY 124 and Small Traffic can take HWY 518 or HWY 592.

The Estimated duration of Road Advisory is unknown.
