A fight between a pair of high school girls has led to some pretty serious charges laid by the OPP.

The two youths are students at Huntsville High School on Brunel Rd.

Police say on May 24 at 1:45 p.m., they were contacted by school administrators reporting a possible assault.

"Officers began an investigation into the allegations and were made aware of a video circulating on social media," says PC Brett McCulloch.

As a result, a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl, both from Huntsville are charged with:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Forcible confinement

The girls are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. Their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

"Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety," adds McCulloch.

The incident is still under investigation and any witnesses are asked to contact the Huntsville OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.
