Hundreds brave freezing temperatures waiting to welcome truck convoy

'People are cold but in pretty good spirits'

The parking lots along Pinewood Park Drive are packed with supporters this afternoon, patiently waiting for the arrival of the truck convoy.

Temperatures are hovering around the minus 20 mark with a wind chill of minus 30.

That convoy is not expected to reach North Bay much before 4:30 p.m. at this point.

BayToday reporter David Briggs is at Pinewood Park and says there are many families there and the atmosphere is jovial.

"There are hundreds of people of all ages and a lot of families."

Three people were handing out cat and dog food to truckers.

"A woman on a stage was singing O Canada through a PA system. The crowd joined in and it was pretty raucus," said Briggs.

There are a lot of Canadian flags and people are yelling "freedom."

"We're here for freedom and we're against mandates," one person said, "We want things back to normal."

Briggs reports a lot of anti-Trudeau sentiment and signs.

"People are cold but in pretty good spirits," He reports.
