Human remains identified, investigation into cause of death begins

Ontario Provincial Police in Sudbury are continuing the investigation into the death of Davinder (Daphen) Kochar.

A post mortem examination of human remains found Dec. 27 at a bush area off of Trout Lake Road in Burwash Twp confirmed they were those of Kochar, who was reported missing to the Greater Sudbury Police Service Nov. 6, 2005.

A command post that has been set up where the remains were discovered will be removed today.

Further forensic examination will be required to determine the cause of death. Investigators are treating this death as suspicious. The remains will be released to the family today.

The investigation is continuing by officers from the Greater Sudbury Police, and the North East Region OPP Crime Unit.
