Hospice hopes to win $100,000 in a national contest

Nipissing Serenity Hospice is asking for support across Nipissing and East Parry Sound Districts to quickly reach as many people as possible to win $100,000 in the national Aviva Community Fund contest.

According to Aviva's website, "the five ideas that receive the most votes during our Voting Round will become finalists and will be evaluated by our panel of judges who will determine the winning idea. The winner will receive $100,000 in funding to implement their idea within a two-year period. The remaining four finalists will receive a $5,000 donation to their charity of choice."

Voting began at noon today and your help is needed to advance to the 2nd round.

"Nipissing Serenity Hospice is asking for public support through voting for our hospice idea in a contest where the top ideas that receive the most votes advance to the final round," states a news release.

  • Ideas will be displayed on October 10, 2017 – the first day of the Voting Round.
  • Voting runs from October 10-19, 2017.
  • Each voter has 18 votes that can be cast at any time during the Voting Round.

In addition, the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) hopes to receive a grant of up to $50,000 from the fund.

 "NBRHC Foundation is competing against hundreds of charities for an Aviva Community Fund Grant.  If successful, this grant will support the purchase of urgently needed lab equipment to diagnose cancer," says a news release.

"You can vote for NBRHC online until Thursday, October 19th and help your Health Centre become one of 35 finalists. A panel of judges will select the Grand Prize winners who will share $1.15 million in funding."
