The Honorary Colonels Council of 22 Wing CFB North Bay hosted a special ceremony Thursday where they unveiled 10 red oak trees and a dedication plaque at the base of the CF-100 memorial in Lee Park Thursday.

The trees are in honour of past, present and future veterans and marks the formation of the council in an effort to keep past honorary colonels involved not only in the community, but also with the CFB North Bay.

Past serving honorary Colonel Phil Richardson, who led the ceremony, was joined by several honorary colonels, CFB officials, MP Anthony Rota and Mayor Vic Fedeli for the plaque dedication.

Richardson said the red oak is a strong and sturdy tree just like the Canadian military.
