St. Alexander Elementary School on Bloem Street in North Bay, plus some surrounding homes were evacuated mid-morning after a gas line was ruptured near the school at approximately 10:30.
The students were off‐site attending Mass at the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption at the time and as a precaution, were required to remain there until an all clear was issued shortly after 11 a.m. said a spokesperson for the school.
Students were provided lunch at the church and are returning to the school shortly after for the remainder of the day.
