Hiker airlifted after OPP and EMS make a cliff rescue

Further investigation revealed that rocks had fallen on the hiker's legs

The OPP and emergency services near Temiskaming Shores combined efforts to help an injured hiker recently. 

On July 14, 2021 shortly after 2 p.m., members from the Temiskaming OPP, OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the Hudson Fire Department and the Timiskaming District Emergency Medical Services responded to a call for a hiker in distress on Hooper's Rock, in the Township of Hudson west of Temiskaming Shores. 

Further investigation revealed that rocks had fallen on the hiker's legs. The hiker was rescued from the cliff ledge.

The 32-year-old resident of Cambridge, Ontario  sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital by Ornge.

The highway was closed and re-opened a short time after.
