With all the highway construction in and around North Bay, there are plenty of those yellow posts on the road separating traffic.

That posed a problem for a Powassan man.

Yesterday (Sunday) at 2:20 a.m., Powassan OPP got a traffic complaint of a vehicle traveling southbound in the construction zone, south of North Bay, which struck a number of the posts separating the northbound and southbound lanes.

The vehicle was found by police and the driver was arrested at the scene for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Impaired Driving. The driver was brought to the North Bay Police Service for breath testing.

The breath tests showed the driver had over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

As a result of the police investigation, Marcel Mousseau, 31, of Powassan, has been charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol,
  • Driving with More than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood, and;
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance - Cannabis Marijuana Under 30g,

Mousseau's driver's licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

He was released on a Promise To Appear.
