Highway closed five hours in Highway 17 fatal collision

North Bay OPP say a 74-year-old man has been killed after a two-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon on Highway 17 in East Ferris.

The accident happened at 4:45 p.m.

Police say one vehicle was eastbound and had four occupants. The other vehicle was westbound with two occupants. A 74-year-old, who was a passenger in the eastbound vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.   

Highway 17 was closed for approximately five hours while OPP Technical Collision Investigators processed the scene.  

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
