Highway Book Shop owner speaking at Nipissing

Nipissing University is pleased to present a public lecture featuring Doug Pollard, publisher and owner of the Highway Book Shop.

The lecture takes place on Tuesday, November 6, at 7 p.m. in the Weaver Auditorium (room B200). It is free of charge and open to the public.

Pollard will speak about his experiences running an independent bookstore in the North and publishing Northern Ontario writers.

The Highway Book Shop, located just outside Cobalt, Ontario, has been owned and operated by Pollard since 1957 and is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The Book Shop has also published a wide range of books, with local history being the main thrust. In 1980, Pollard received an honorary doctor of letters from Nipissing University.
