Highway 17 remains closed in both directions

Here's a highway closure update as of 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Highway 17 remains closed in both directions from Ridge Rd. in Deep River to Powell Lake Trail in Bissett Creek, due to flooding. Reopening time is unknown.

Detour is Northbound Hwy 60 to Highway 11 northbound. Southbound detour is Highway 11 to Hwy 60. Reopening time is unknown.

Also, in Novar north of Huntsville, Highway 592 remains closed in both directions in the area due to flooding.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry – North Bay District and the North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority Flood Warning is still in effect in the southern portion of the District until Thursday.

This warning encompasses the Sturgeon River, Lake Nipissing, and Upper French River Watershed as well as the South River.  Water levels and flows in local lakes and rivers will remain high following significant snowmelt and rainfall that moved across the area.

Residents and those visiting the area are advised to be aware of current watershed conditions. Higher than normal water levels and flow conditions, typical of this time of year, exist throughout the area and residents are reminded to keep a close watch on weather conditions.

A rainfall warning remains in effect for Temagami - New Liskeard - Kirkland Lake and Témiscamingue.

In North Bay, Rain beginning this morning then ending this evening. A 60 per cent chance of drizzle late this evening and after midnight then 40 percent chance of flurries overnight.
