Highway 17 E closed for third straight day

OPP say they've issued several tickets to drivers trying to travel the road despite being closed

For the third day in a row, driving east to Ottawa will involve a long detour.

And OPP say they've issued several tickets to drivers trying to travel the road despite being closed.

"People driving on the closed highway after ignoring all of these signs," say OPP. "Stay off the closed highway!"

Highway17 is closed just west of Bissett Creek, east of Mattawa, for an extended period of time due to flooding and a washed out portion of the road.

Detour is northbound traffic Highway 60 to Highway 11 northbound. Southbound detour is Highway 11 to Hwy 60. Reopening time is still unknown.

There is also flooding on 17 between Tower Trail and McIssac Dr. near the first washout.  All lanes are closed.
