Shortly before 9 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the OPP responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) on Highway 11 south of Temagami.
A total of five people were involved in the collision, four of them were occupants of the SUV.
Temagami Ambulance Service has transported three people to the hospital with undetermined injuries and one person has been confirmed deceased.
No names are being released at this time, pending next of kin notifications.
Highway 11 was closed in both directions as the investigation into the collision continued. The highway is now open.
