Mother Nature is turning up the burners today and we could see a new record high temperature set.
Environment Canada is calling for a high today of 34, and that would smash the old record of 29.4 set way back in 1944. The humidex will hit 40 while the UV index will climb to 9, or very high.
As well the heat warning continues for:
- North Bay - West Nipissing
- Powassan - Mattawa
- Greater Sudbury and vicinity
- Burk's Falls - Bayfield Inlet
- Parry Sound - Muskoka
- Kirkland Lake - New Liskeard - Temagami
The heat will continue through Thursday.
Daytime temperatures will be near 30 degrees through Thursday, with humidex values in the mid-thirties to low forties. Low temperatures overnight will be in the high teens to low twenties providing little relief from the heat. Temperatures near the lake shores will be cooler.
A cool-down is expected by Friday with the passage of a cold front and the high will be just 21.
We just missed setting a record yesterday as the high hit 30.6 We reached 30.6, just shy of the 1966 record of 31.
In the meantime, enjoy a little heatwave of your own courtesy of Martha and the Vandellas.
