A driver was caught consuming something that wasn't on the menu recently.

OPP say on November 20, at 8 p.m., OPP officers got a complaint about a man in a fast food restaurant drive-through drinking alcohol.

The restaurant is at the Junction of Highway 17 and Highway 6, in the town of McKerrow. 

Police saw the passenger car travelling eastbound on Highway 17 and stopped it in the town of Nairn Centre.

A roadside breath test confirmed that the driver had consumed alcohol.

Justin Lamothe, 24 years of age, from Walden, was issued an immediate roadside driver’s licence suspension for three days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven days.

Lamothe was also charged with the following offences:

  • Driving while under suspension, 
  • Operating a motor vehicle without insurance, 
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, 

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
