Ottawa - Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service.

Suzanne Hurtubise, currently Deputy Minister of Public Safety, becomes Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office, effective October 13, 2009. Ms. Hurtubise is the Government of Canada nominee for the position of Executive Director for Canada and Morocco at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, to replace André Juneau, who is retiring at the end of October 2009.

William (Bill) Baker, currently Commissioner of Revenue, becomes Deputy Minister of Public Safety, effective October 13, 2009.

Linda Lizotte-MacPherson, currently Senior Associate Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development and Chief Operating Officer for Service Canada, becomes Commissioner of Revenue, effective October 13, 2009.

Liseanne Forand, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, becomes Senior Associate Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development and Chief Operating Officer for Service Canada, effective October 13, 2009.

Andrea Lyon, currently Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic and Program Policy, Citizenship and Immigration, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, effective October 13, 2009.

James Ralston, currently Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Commissioner of Canada Revenue Agency, becomes Comptroller General of Canada, effective October 3, 2009.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to thank Mr. Rodney Monette, who is retiring after a distinguished career in the Public Service, for his remarkable contribution in serving Canadians.

As well, the Prime Minister thanked Mr. André Juneau, who is also retiring from the Public Service, for his dedication and excellence in serving Canadians.

The Prime Minister extends his best wishes for great success in their future endeavours.
