Summer in the Park wristband sales have hit the 5,000 mark, and that's halfway to their target says Chair John Strang.

Only 3,400 were sold all of last year, with just 200 sold by the end of May 2014.

This year the price went from $25 to $35 June 1st, but to keep up the momentum Strang says the committee will honour the $25 mark for city business owners that buy 25 or more wristbands until the end of this month.

And Strang is pleased with the reception the city has given the festival this year.

"It's pretty incredible that we've sold the number we have today.

"The entertainment lineup is great. That has a lot to do with the buzz. Johnny Reid is big, Autumn Hill is really climbing right now. Burton Cummings is hot this year. He's a rock legend but the fact he's sold out Casino Rama and had to put on another show --- people are paying $95 a ticket down there and you can get them here right now for $35, so there's buzz and we're very, very excited about it."
