Group assault: morning police report

The North Bay Police Service is investigating a case in which a North Bay man was assaulted by a group of males. The incident took place approximately 2:35 Saturday morning while the man was walking on Front Street near McLeod Street.

The incident took place approximately 2:35 Saturday morning while the man was walking on Front Street near McLeod Street.

Police allege he was approached by five to seven males. four or five of whom began to assault him. He tried to run away but was chased and caught and then slammed into a stop sign post on Front Street.

At this point the victim shed his backpack and managed to escape and then ran to an all-night convenience store where he contacted the North Bay Police Service.

Officers went to the scene where some of the victim’s belongings had been left behind minus his backpack.

This backpack is described as a large desert camouflage style, make Triple 5Soul. It contained university notes and a book Aldous Huxley-The Doors of Perception.

The only suspect description is: male, white, 15 to 16-years-old, and that one male wore a dark coloured vest with a white long sleeve shirt under it.

BREAK AND ENTERS
Between Jan. 26 and Feb. 3 thieves kicked in the front door of a home in the 100 block of Marshall Park Drive. The thieves stole jewellery, CDs and a camcorder, and a $5,000 diamond ring.

On Feb. 4 between the hours of 2:30 PM and 11 PM, thieves kicked in the front door of a home in the 300 block of Percy Street. Once inside the thieves stole an X Box with 20 games and numerous DVDs.

Overnight on Feb. 4, thieves used a hacksaw to cut a metal bar to a cooler of Roly’s Eatery in the 700 block of Main Street E. Once this was done the thieves gained access to the business and stole some shooter drinks and cash.
