Greening The Bay

The saying goes ‘from a little acorn grows the mighty oak’ and the volunteers of North Bay Heritage Gardeners & Nipissing Botanical Gardens are out to prove it.

The saying goes ‘from a little acorn grows the mighty oak’ and the volunteers of North Bay Heritage Gardeners & Nipissing Botanical Gardens are out to prove it.

Volunteer gardeners, known as the ‘Green Berets’ and the ‘Outlanders’, have planted over 6,000 trees and shrubs in the Bay in an effort to establish Canada’s newest botanical gardens.

Partners in the initiative include the North Bay Heritage Gardeners, North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority, Community Waterfront Friends, and the City of North Bay recently unveiled the project.

This nursery will produce larger trees and shrubs for planting in the Community Waterfront Park, saving tens of thousands of dollars for the Waterfront Friends project.
