Just in time!

North Bay has opened some municipal boat launches this afternoon following an announcement today by the province  that additional restrictions related to COVID-19 will be lifted.

This includes boat launches located at Champlain Park, Sunset Park and Armstrong Park. Physical distancing and safety protocols must be maintained at all times. The Waterfront Marina boat launch will open Saturday.

  • If another boater is launching a boat when you arrive, please queue in line and remain in your vehicle until they are finished.
  • Do not congregate near the boat launch prior to or after launching your boat.
  • Ensure you are maintaining a distance of two metres apart from others while loading/unloading boats and while on the waterways.
  • Ensure you are practicing safe and responsible boating practices in order to minimize the need for emergency service response.

The City’s Waterfront Marina and boat launches have been closed in light of recommendations discouraging non-essential travel and in accordance with the provincial emergency order issued March 30 requiring the closure of all outdoor recreational amenities.

Today’s announcement by the province will also allow for the opening on Saturday of the marina.

City parks and green spaces are open for walking, running, or riding their bikes through, but playground equipment and other structures remain closed.
