The North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce along with our cruise sponsor, Bell, hit the water last night to celebrate the finale of the Extra Mile Award program this summer. The two hour, sunset cruise on the Chief Commanda II was a sell-out.
Al Russell of Bell, awarded the grand prize winner of the Extra Mile award to Kenny Brewster of North Bay Radio. Kenny was awarded $1,000 grand prize for going the “extra mile” allowing a young autistic boy his dream of being on the radio while visiting his grandparents this summer. The interview was saved on a CD for the young man to bring home as a keepsake to his parents. Mr. Russell stated “Bell is proud to be the event sponsor for the cruise. This is an excellent way for Bell to participate in the community by providing a venue for the nominees to enjoy a great evening and congratulate them on the excellent work they do providing great customer service. Bell offers a sincere thank you to Kenny, for his grand prize nomination.”
Paul Daigle, chair of the Extra Mile award program stated “nominations were sought throughout the summer from the general public for those nominees who go that “extra mile” in customer service. There were so many great sponsors who promoted the program and recognize the importance of excellence in customer service from their employees.” Monthly award winners included: Cory Jamieson of Mr. Gas; Brianne Kerr of Pinehill Coffee Shop; Bob Alger of Alger’s Furniture and Kenny Brewster of North Bay Radio. Monthly winners were awarded $50 and other gift certificates from Joso’s Dining Room at Best Western, Bull & Quench and Highball Billiards.

Usually you only hear the complaints, but it is equally important to know that customer service is being delivered in our region and sometimes there are those that go above and beyond their job description. We certainly need to award and congratulate those that go the “extra mile”.
