The North Bay & District Labour Council has re-elected longtime president, Henri Giroux, to another three-year term. He will be joined by Rob Boulet, who was elected as Vice President after years of involvement in the labour community.

“I would like to thank the labour community and its allies for their ongoing support,” said Giroux following his election. “We have a lot of work to do to bring better working conditions for all workers, but I’m happy to see people coming together in the face of a government that is only looking out for its friends.”

Boulet says he is excited about the coming term and is looking forward to “connecting with our affiliates and community groups and building some stronger connections among all of us. The provincial government is trying to tear us apart, move profit into spaces it doesn't belong, and line the pockets of their buddies at the cost of our well-being and environment.”

The North Bay & District Labour Council is a central labour body that combines the strength of hundreds of local unions representing 15,000 working people and their families. Its mandate is to organize and advocate on issues that are vital to working people throughout the region.
