As of September 15th, 2009, it will be law that any person operating a powerboat or pleasure craft on Canadian waters MUST have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. In order to obtain the card, boaters and operators are able to write the Red Cross On Board Exam, accredited by the Canadian Coast Guard.

The North Bay Branch of the Red Cross is offering “Get On Board Days” through July and August. Every Wednesday and Friday from July 9th to August 29th, On Board Exam Administrators will be available by appointment at the branch office, located at 1275 Main Street West, between 9am and 3pm.

Examinations cost $25 per person, payable to the Canadian Red Cross by cash, cheque or credit card. After a passing grade is submitted, participants will receive a Pleasure Craft Operator card.
