Gas prices down but people still stealing

With the price of gas way down, you'd think there would be less incentive to steal it. But Wawa OPP can tell you different. Yesterday morning officers responded to a call, claiming a motorist had stolen gas from a White River business.

Yesterday morning officers responded to a call, claiming a motorist had stolen gas from a White River business.

A description of the car and driver were provided to officers and later a vehicle was spotted travelling southbound on Highway 17, and subsequently stopped near a local Wawa business.

Police arrested Jordan Lynn McConnell, 23 of British Columbia.

The accused stands charged with the following offences,

  • Adult Possession of Property obtained by Crime Under $5,000 
  • Adult Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 
  • Adult Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle 
  • Adult Theft Under $5,000 
  • Adult Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking
  • Adult Possession of a Schedule II substance under 30 grams                                                                                                                      

McConnell was held for a bail hearing.
