Gas prices in North Bay jumped about six cents a litre Tuesday.

Record gas prices in the North Bay area today with most gas stations above 1.50 a litre for the first time.

That's a jump from !.46 average yesterday.

Petro Canada on Algonquin tops 1.53.

Gas Buddy on Tuesday afternoon has Necessities on Highway 17 W at 1.36.9.

It also shows the provincial average today at 1.43.5.

Prices are up over 50 per cent from last year's average of 99.6.

Experts say as the world economy reopens, supply hasn't kept up.

That's led to sticker shock as North Bay area motorists go to fill up their tanks.

Unfortunately, prices at the pump may rise even higher spurred by the global energy crisis.
