Earlier this morning, a mild gas odour was detected at École publique Odyssée, located on Norman Avenue in North Bay. Competent authorities were on site and inspected the school to find a defective unit causing a mild smell of gas.

As a precautionary measure, all students were evacuated from the school. Students from North Bay and Highway 63 area were sent back home and students from outside of town spent the rest of the day at École publique Héritage, located right next door to Odyssée. These students returned home on their regular scheduled bus route.

Authorities shut off the defective unit which will be repaired very shortly. The Conseil scolaire public du Nord‐
Est (CSDNE) confirms that École publique Odyssée will be open tomorrow morning.

Finally, the CSDNE would like to thank all who have helped in solving and managing this problem. The Board is also offering its sincere apologies to all parents and students in the unfolding event of the school closure.
