The North Bay "Rags to Riches" group gathered at Discovery North Bay Museum Wednesday to share their expertise, talents and bounce ideas off one and other while creating and displaying their textile art in the traditional form.

"What was once an old fashioned craft of necessity is witnessing a boom in popularity," notes Museum Director Jennifer Buell

"The art of rug hooking now renewed as 'fibre art' is showing up at artisan fairs, fashion boutiques and art galleries."

She also notes that the local Rags to Riches group's most recent effort included a call to textile artists across Canada to participate in the North Bay Heritage Carousel exhibit, which is now on display in the upper gallery at Discovery North Bay Museum.
