Franco-Nord board to start ARC meetings

The Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord is announcing the first of four public meetings of the Pupil Accommodation Review Committee (ARC) concerning St-Paul and Ste-Anne schools in North Bay, which have been declared prohibitive to repair. This meeting will take place at École Ste-Anne, North Bay, on Monday September 8th, 2008, at 7 p.m.

Chaired by Marthe Hamelin, the ARC will present its mandate, the review process as prescribed by the Ministry of Education, as well as the School Valuation Framework. During the meeting, members of the ARC will receive reports prepared by Board administrators on the current profile of each of these schools. Parents in the St-Paul and Ste-Anne school communities will therefore have the opportunity to receive this information, and ask questions following presentation of the reports.

In February 2008, the Ministry of Education announced funding of 8.3 million dollars to replace St-Paul and Ste-Anne schools. According to MOE guidelines, the Conseil scolaire catholiqueFranco-Nord has to undertake a thorough review of school accommodations.

“Parents and all members of our community are important partners in this project. The Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord is pleased to welcome parents to set in motion the review process for the two schools,” said the Director of Education, Raymond Lessard. “With this consultation, the Board will consider the needs and concerns of the two school communities during the final process of analysis and decision.”

All meetings of the Pupil Accommodation Review Committee are open to the public.
