Four passengers dead, driver charged

On September 5 at approximately 7:30 a.m., members of the Wawa OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 approximately 20 kilometres west of Wawa near Catfish Lake.

The driver, a 52 year old Manitoba man, has been charged with 'Careless Driving'.

Investigation has determined that the vehicle crashed into a rock cut resulting in the death of four passengers. 

The driver of the motor vehicle was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services in Toronto and further details will be released as they become available.
