Former North Bayite receives OPP award

Auxiliary Staff Sgt. Andy McDougall named Auxiliary Member of the Year

A former resident of North Bay, now a member of the Nottawasaga OPP, Auxiliary Staff Sgt. Andy McDougall has been recognized with an award this month.

McDougall started his career with the OPP as an auxiliary member in North Bay in 1995. Since that time, he relocated to Nottawasaga OPP and in 2021 was promoted to the role of auxiliary staff sergeant.

Recently, he received the OPP Accolade 2021 Award of Excellence for Auxiliary Member of the Year.

Also, Auxiliary member Kyle Jones received his 10-year service coin, which was presented by McDougall, during a monthly training session. Jones started his OPP Auxiliary career with the Orillia detachment while he was attending University. He transferred to the Nottawasaga detachment roughly six years ago and balances working full-time for the municipal bylaw, being a husband and father, and an auxiliary member.

A news release states the two "serve our communities adhering to our values by serving with pride, professionalism and honour, interacting with respect, compassion, and fairness while leading with integrity, honesty and courage."
