Ted Thomson, a well-known local businessman and former owner of the North Bay Centennials hockey team is to be Inducted into North Bay Sports Hall of Fame

Ted Thomson arrived in North Bay over 65 years ago and since that time his contribution to sport as well as a multitude of other ventures has had a significant impact on our community. He originally became involved as the Treasurer for the Gateway Fastball Association and as his investment company grew so did his contribution to North Bay. Over the decades, he has sponsored individuals, teams, and leagues at all levels with no desire for recognition.

"Thomson has always operated on the premise that North Bay has been good to him and regardless of the request, he has been good to so many," the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame stated in a release.

Although associated with hockey, the myriad of sponsorships and assistance provided covers a multitude of various sports. In 1995, he became a part owner of the North Bay Centennials and in 2003 he became the major owner of the team, keeping the team in North Bay for an additional seven years. He also served as team Governor during that time.

Thomson was part of the North Bay Centennials ownership group which sold the team to an ownership group in Saginaw, Michigan in 2002.

"While many athletes have been recognized for their athletic achievements through the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame," an NBHOF release states.

"Thomson epitomizes the qualities aligned with the sponsorship category, and sport collectively has benefited from his endless support."

Thomson has been recognized in many ways, including Kiwanis Citizen of the Year and the Davedi Club Order of Merit. Ted Thomson is now being recognized as a builder and community sports supporter.
