Former North Bay Battalion captain Barclay Goodrow finished off an unbelievable comeback for the San Jose Sharks by scoring the series winning goal in overtime in game 7 eliminating the Vegas Golden Knights and completing a series comeback which saw the Sharks down 3-1.

Goodrow, on his second shift in the overtime, delivered late in the extra frame.

The former Battalion captain took a pass from Erik Karlsson and deking his way past Fleury for the game-winner that set off a wild celebration. The Sharks became just the second team ever to overcome a three-goal deficit in the third period of a Game 7 and win, joining the Boston Bruins, who did it in 2013 against Toronto.

"It was a pretty surreal moment. Definitely the biggest goal of my career, obviously," Goodrow said.

"I saw Erik get the puck in the middle," Goodrow told NHL.com. "I just got on the ice, so I saw [defenseman Brayden McNabb] was a little flat-footed. I thought maybe if I could skate, I could maybe get behind him. Obviously, Erik's a world-class player. He's able to make that play. I thought if I could get to the far side on Fleury I might have a chance."

The goal may have brought back memories of Goodrow's only season in North Bay.  Goodrow rushed down the right wing and cut across in front of Marc-Andre Fleury, beating him wide.  It was a common sight, especially in shootouts that season.
