Food Bank seeing increased need. Food drive on

A slowdown in donations means this collection event is greatly needed

The North Bay Food Bank is looking for donations.

The Food Bank is running low on supplies and is looking at an October drive to help replenish stock.

Debbie Marson, the executive director, says “We are experiencing an increase in the need for our program, and a slowdown in donations so this collection event is greatly needed.”

Kennedy Insurance Brokers is running a food drive for October. 

“We are calling on clients and friends to consider joining our team in supporting this effort,” said Jamie Martyn, president at Kennedy’s.

Most needed items for this time of the year include:

  • Gift cards in to purchase fresh items such as dairy, fruits, and veggies
  • Sugar
  • Cereal
  • Jam
  • Peanut butter
  • Apple sauce – jars
  • Kid’s snacks such as pudding cups, fruit cups, and Jello cups
  • Canned pasta
  • Toilet paper, shampoo, deodorant, and toothbrushes
  • Pancake mix
  • Syrup
  • Condiments

“The goal for us is to have 2,000 lbs of food collected by the end of October,” Jamie continues. “The North Bay Food Bank has made it very easy for all of us to help out.”

Physical donations of food or gift cards, cheques or cash can be dropped off at either Kennedy Insurance at 160 King Street West in North Bay from Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5: pm or directly to the North Bay Food Bank.  The Food Bank also has the ability of receiving donations via their website at www.northbayfoodbank.ca where donors can indicate that their donations are part of this food drive.
