The Ministry of Natural Resources is advising area residents that a flood warning remains in effect for the French and Sturgeon River Watershed.

Water levels in the French River are expected to stabilize over the next few days. High water levels may still lead to flooding in low-lying areas along rivers and lakes.

Sturgeon River water levels and flows continue to rise as the remainder of the snowpack melts. Some low-lying areas are experiencing flooding. This system will continue to have high levels as the inflows move downstream.

The Ministry of Natural Resources continues to remind area residents to take necessary action to protect property in flood-prone areas, and exercise caution around fast flowing rivers.

Unless conditions warrant over the weekend, this warning will be updated on Monday May 6, 2013.

A separate flood watch has been issued for Lake Nipissing.
