Flexibility is the key for students in this near north class

Widdifield dance students were treated to an intense dance workshop with MotusO a professional dance company from Toronto Thursday.

The troupe had the eleven students (three boys and eight girls) explore their dance expression through connection, compression and resistance.

Today the troupe moves to the Capitol Centre where they will run and afternoon workshop with 70 Near North high school students from the area including Northern and F.J. McElligott Secondary School at the Capitol Centre today.

The workshop, which was organised by Widdifield Dance teacher Jocelyn Bell and Jessica Westermann of Dance Ontario, promises to be an exciting one for students as it features a performance by MotusO and a question and answer period for both dancers and community members.

12:30 Opening Remarks and refreshments

1-2:00 Matinee Performance by Motus O with local school groups in attendance

2-2:30 Artists’ Talk Back with school groups in attendance (Post performance Q and A Session)

2:30-3 Break and Refreshments

3-4:30 Dance for Youth Forum with community educators, venue operators, dance artists and arts council/service organization representatives in the theatre.
