Five individuals arrested for passing counterfeit bills

At 6:10am on May 5th a man and a woman attended a restaurant on McKeown Ave where they used what was believed to be a counterfeit $20 dollar bill to pay.

They left and were observed to go to another restaurant nearby where they were confronted by the original restaurant employee and their licence number recorded.

The subjects left immediately but the car was stopped by police at Hwy 17 W. Two men and three women were apprehended.

A search of the vehicle located in excess of $90,000 in counterfeit 20 dollar bills, in excess of $3000 in real currency and 178 grams of marijuana.

The five people arrested are all from the Montreal Quebec area.

One is a female young person. The others are identified as; Nicola Aarestrup 24yrs, Carl Excellent 26yrs, Marie Pouliot 23yrs, and Shanice Saaduldin 18yrs.

They face a total of 17 offences that include 3 for uttering counterfeit currency, 5 for possession of counterfeit currency, 5 for possession for the purpose of trafficking, 3 for breach of probation and 1 for obstruct police.

All 5 persons have been held in custody for bail hearings. Csts Vince Corrente and Robin Boucher are continuing the investigation.

North Bay Police Arrested five individuals who were passing Canadian counterfeit twenty dollar notes at a local Restaurant.

Upon further investigation a large quantity of Canadian counterfeit was seized, in addition to a quantity of Marihuana.

The four males and one female are being held for bail in North Bay.

All are being charged with numerous Criminal offences dealing with counterfeit currency & possession for purpose of trafficking in a narcotic.
