Kayla Grise, a grade 12 student at École secondaire publique Odyssée was awarded first prize in the secondary school division of the WKP Kennedy Gallery art festival celebrating Franco-Ontarian culture and art.

Her acrylic painting depicted the plant with deep roots. These represent Kayla’s interest in the arts, music, drama and her identity as a francophone. As the stem reaches towards the light, it blooms into the Franco-Ontarian symbol; the green and white Trillium flower.

Kayla is an avid artist and hopes to continue her studies in Graphic arts and design.
