Fire scare at a popular coffee shop (UPDATED)

Smoke from a coffee roaster cause of the problem.

A popular coffee shop on McKeown avenue was evacuated due to reports of smoke that appeared to be coming from the chimney of a coffee roaster machine at the popular location North of the city.

The fire call came in around 7:20 tonight at the Twiggs next to Crevier/Lucky 13 on McKeown avenue.

Firefighters removed a portion of a chimney and took it outside where Fire Prevention officer Randy Vezina was seen examining it.

No one was injured.

Fire Prevention officer Randy Vezina told BayToday.ca that flames were not visible and the smoke was contained to the ventilation system of the coffee bean roaster and the only damage was to the ventilation system of the roaster itself.

Vezina confirmed that the shop is open for business today.
